I am 100% behind keeping the Pistons in the Palace. Whereas plenty of these prospective owners have enough money to buy the team and move it where ever they please, the Northern suburbs have long been recognized for their die hard fanship. (Note that once a fan of Detroit sports ALWAYS a fan... no matter where you live.) There's no loyalty like Motown loyalty.

Love this article and wish more people applied it. I "unfortunately" have had the pleasure of following and being a fan of winning programs, University of Texas for everything college, Dallas Cowboys and yes somewhat random but the New York Yankees. I love the Yankees because my grandpa that I was very close to was a New Yorker living in Texas and lived and breathed Yankees baseball. My household didnt really have a pro team so when I was little, I guess I just began to watch and listen to my grandpa with that one.

Let me say though, Texas hasn't always been great, well at least they had a down couple years. I remember my first seasons that my dad would take me to Ut games werent great. It was the old SouthWest Conference and for some reason the games against Rice always seemed to be close...thats a little different than today. I remember how frustrated my parents and their friends were from terrible coaching and players that were mediocre at best. Now times are different and I am loving them. I cant even imagine how much I would appreciate them if I had been old enough to understand how the games were so frustrating back then. I dolove the swagger though but you are right about the fair weather fans. Texas fans are probably some of the worst in the country also, the games seem to consist of people who want to say they went and make it a social event rather than watching the game and making the largest stadiums in the country the loudest in the country, but oh well. I'll take the winning and laugh at those fans because it really is a lot of fun to see where you will end up at the end of the year.
GREAT STORY!!!

Comment on All Star Overhaul – The NFL and NBA Are Missing the Boat by bnewton

I agree. The NFL is tdoes the greatest job with the regular season and playoff schedule. They have completely missed the boat with preseason and their "All Star" game. The Pro Bowl is terrible, to put it simply. They don't really play so you don't get to see the best against the best. Also, the fans really aren't a big part of the game at all.

I agree with the adjustments to the NBA All Star Game. They really have the best one out there but there are still some small changes. The NBA incorporates the fans into the game as much as they can and really make it fun for them. It is basically also an entire week dedicated to having fun not only for the players but the fans as well. The only thing witht he voting on the dunk contest is those players are asked to all the time but they refuse. So even if we, the fans, voted them in they would still refuse. And although as great as Kobe, Lebron and Wade would be to watch, would they do anything we haven't seen before...unfortunately, probably not. The dink contest isn't much of a draw now not just because of the nobodies, but even with the somebodies that have dont it recently, we havent seen anything new or exciting in a long time. Nate Robinson really has been the most exciting and the only reason that is, is because he is 5'7. Which by the way has been done before and even better...Spud Webb.

I'm hoping this was meant to be funny...but I'm guessing not. Although they are good reasons, the simple fact remains that hockey is simply not as exciting as basketball. The most excitin things about hockey are the fights and if a shhotout occurs. The problem with the shootout is you probably just sat through a ridiculous boring game to get to it. Fans need the sports to be what they were meant to be, entertainment. If it isn't entertaining, no matter how good the reasons are, they just won't watch. It's like reading a bad book, what's the point in wasting the time.

Yeah, life doesn't reward participation, it rewards results. Everyone is not a winner or special butterfly by default. Some of western society shelters their children to an extreme. Check out this link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34826655/ns/us_news-life/

At risk kids? No more! You're at hope.... Uh..... yeah....
